A note to our DC Family

To our #DCFamily –

There’s no easy way to talk about a first round loss. I’m disappointed, the team is disappointed and I know you, our fans, are disappointed. I want to congratulate the Raptors, who played a great series and earned every bit of their #1 seed with an equally impressive regular season.

Our singular goal in everything we do is to win a championship. You deserve it. Our city deserves it. It remains our first and only priority and I think our team showed this year that we have the pieces to make it happen.

While the team’s inconsistency was sometimes frustrating to watch, I am extremely proud of their perseverance. They overcame their star player being out for 41 games and still found a way to win. Bradley Beal was recognized as an All-Star in his own right. Kelly Oubre and Tomas Satoransky were incredibly effective off the bench and showed that they can contribute at a high level. Otto Porter fought through injury and continued to compete in this Toronto series and we wish him a speedy recovery.

We didn’t reach our goal this year, which was to do better than last year. But we have a lot to be proud of and as always, we will use the offseason to assess what we can do to achieve the full potential that we see in this team.

I want to take a moment to personally thank every single Wizards fan for your loyalty and your support. You’re loud, you’re devoted and you show up. In fact, the TV ratings for Game 5 of this series against Toronto made it the highest-rated Wizards game in 10 years. We are grateful for each and every one of you for being part of our DC Family.
